Principles can mean different things to different people. Change is constant and change should be ongoing. The experiences of life often cause people to declare that they are going to make some changes while others recognize that it is imperative that they change. Change is also referred to as an evolution.
Evolution is defined as any process of formation or growth. It is also defined as development. Thinking about our lives and the changes we have made should cause us to pause and reflect. Has your evolution yielded positive growth? Has your evolution impacted the lives of others? Has your evolution pushed you closer to your goals? These are the questions we should ask ourselves when we talk about change. Change has to be for the better. Don’t allow yourself to be confused about the process of evolution in your life. There are principles to evolution. As you contemplate your next point of evolution, consider these principles:
1. Evolution is not always quick
2. Evolution must be ongoing
3. Evolution requires your commitment (to the change)
4. Evolution requires you to be accountable (to someone other than yourself)
5. Evolution is life changing
6. Evolution should be measurable
7. Evolution should yield a positive outcome
8. Evolution should make you a better person
9. Evolution is a process that I cannot force nor rush
10. Evolution brings humility
11. Evolution will reveal self-worth & value
12. Evolution can bring forth stability
13. Evolution is challenging (but worth it)
14. Evolution will ignite zeal (in you and others)
15. Evolution puts you ahead of the game
Evolving is not the same as revolving. Establish realistic goals and stick to them. Find your checks and balances. If you find yourself back in the same position, you have moved from evolving to revolving. Don’t go in circles; strive to go to new levels.
